Police initiative brings doctors to senior citizens
-- BHIWANDI: Policemen already provide security to senior citizens here by looking them up at their homes, but now they have started providing them with medical facilities by visiting them with doctors.The police said that the intitiative, part of the weeklong social policing drive in the state, would now be continued as there was a good response to it. Under the programme, doctors give free treatment.
The drive started on Wednesday with the help of 13 doctors under the Indian Medical Association. "In this campaign we have chosen senior citizen who live alone and do not have income of their own," deputy commissioner of police (zone 2) M K Bhosale said.
We have formed six team from six different police stations who will collect information about such senior citizen and we will sent our police and doctor team for their treatment. Said Shivraj Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Bhiwandi zone.
Looking at efforst made by police the senior citizen is also looking happy.
"In my carrier years life I had never passed such good movment with police and that too for the good cause when they had come for my medical help". Said Farid Nadir, resident of Patel building in Patel Nagar area.
"Earlier only police would used to come to take details about our securiy and this is first time when they had came for our health safety" said another senior citizen.
Dr Sandeep Jaju members from the doctor team said, "During visit we are trying to understand medicals need of person and as per that we are recommending medicines and those who are serious nature we are calling them at our hospitals for treatment that too free of cost".V.RAGHAVENDRA RAO,
