Senior Citizen Security Cell by Commissionerate Police well appreciated
Residents of Maitri Vihar rejoice over the new Senior Citizen Security Cell that has been put in place by the Commissionerate Police since May 2014.
Radha Krushna, 70, one of the members of the Maitri Vihar Resident Welfare Association, says, “With a police outpost in place in the locality there has been a check on the crime. In addition, the police ensure to visit all the houses once in 15 days to enquire about the wellbeing of the senior citizens.”
Jamuna Mishra, in her early 70’s adds, “What’s remarkable is the check on the crime. We feel safer and secured with the police outpost nearby and the police a call away. We have been issued Senior Citizen cards as well. This has helped us in a bigger way as it safeguards our wellbeing in the absence of our children. We don’t have to wait in long queues any more to pay our water and electricity bills.”
She also says that the presence of the senior citizen cell comes as an assurance for them with the police enquiring about their whereabouts on a regular basis.
Surabhi, another resident of LIC Colony, asserts that the police comes to rescue during health emergency situation as well and hence the senior citizen security cell has turned out to be a boon for the elderly.
