Officials , senior citizens meet at Sector 14 police community hub
Days after Panchkula police opened the first of its kind police community hub at Sector 14 police station, the first meeting was held at the hub on Sunday. A large number of senior citizens attended the meet and discussed their problems with senior police officials. Also, part of the programme was a poetry event.
Among others who attended the programme included Panchkula Mayor Upinder Ahluwalia and senior citizens from different sectors of Panchkula.
Commissioner of police Panchkula-Ambala range Rajbir Deswal, said the event was held as part of the police initiative to bridge the gap between the police and general public. A social organisation, Ehsas Adbi Society, had collaborated in the programme.
Chairman of the Senior Citizen Council J N Bhatti, said the programme inspired the camaraderie between the police and public, while adding the poetry programme was the highlight of the event. Meanwhile, Deswal also read out poetry at the meet and highlighted the need for more such programmes.
He said these initiatives would help police not only engage with the public, but also ensure the routine crimes are kept on check.
"The police community hub will be involved in resolving conflicts, primarily domestic conflicts within families to a settlement," said Deswal.
