Police extend help to senior citizens

ALLAHABAD: "Joint families are disintegrating in present time and elderly persons should make their own arrangements to avoid facing hardship in later stage", said Justice Giridhar Malviya (retd) while addressing the annual meeting of Senior Citizen Council here at Nirala Sabhagar on Sunday. Putting forth his views, president, Allahabad University Teachers Association (AUTA) ProfGirish Chandra Tripathi said, "Senior citizens with their valuable experience can help us to face challenges of life."
In his address the president of the council, Sri Ram Yadav said that service of elderly persons is equivalent to service to God and everyone should respect and help them.
Later on the secretary, Ram Naresh Tiwari presented the annual report of the council and threw light on the activities of the council and its future plans. Meanwhile the police is also conducting sessions for senior citizens where they are being apprised about the provisions of Senior Citizens Act.
A senior cop told TOI that officers are providing full guidance to senior citizens to seek police help in case they face any problem. Besides the local police is also compiling records and collecting details of senior citizens residing in the city.
